August 16, 2011

Hey Mom,
I am doing fine. The other day my companion got hit by car, he wasn't hurt at all. I fell again on my bike and ruined my only pair of suit pants. At least now i have a suit to burn at the end of my mission. I already have a tie and pair of pants to burn at the 6 month and 18 month marks. Anyways I better go.
Love you very much,
Elder Huston

Hey Mom,
I am doing okay. Most of the the appointments went through, one or two of them fell through though. I did buy a new bike, it is amazing, it was originally going to be $350 but it had a 25% off tag on it and when i brought in the old bike, told them i had bought it there and showed that it had broken in half, they took off even more from the original price, so i got it for $200 instead. I will send you pics next week maybe. I got it at Play it Again Sports, and I have not met bro. Pishls dad because i don't think he is in our area.
I don't get checks from the church, we get a JP Morgan/Chase card that we get a monthly alottment on, which is around $145. We don't pay rent since we live in a Visa Waiter's apartment. We do usually shop at walmart, but only on Tuesday's. For some reason my support card denies any charges to it, even though it has almost $100 on it, so my amazing companion paid for my lunch and groceries. I love him so much because of that. But, I need to pay him back some how.
We do have our own washer and dryer in our apartment. The temple would be beautiful if it wasn't go through heavy remodeling. It won't be open until around this time next year. The closest working temple is in Twin Falls, which is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Boise. The mission office is in our area, actually it is right next to the temple. And we are literally just down the street from the temple. It stinks that is going under renovations right now. Well i better go, please tell people to send me snail mail.
Love,
Elder Zach Huston

Boise Idaho Mission office

Dear Missionary Parents:

We are especially grateful for your son’s safe arrival to the Idaho Boise Mission and consider ourselves blessed to have this opportunity to serve with him and all the other elders and sisters here in Idaho and Oregon. This is clearly a very special mission. We are blessed with noble young elders and sisters, wonderful members and much success. We will do all we can to watch over, care for and build Elder Huston as we move this important work forward.

We have enjoyed getting some photographs with our new arrivals. Attached are two photos with your missionary: one with my wife and me and one with his trainer, Elder Taylor. We hope you receive this email in good health and hope you enjoy the pictures.

With love and appreciation,

President and Sister Cannon

Hey there,
So it turns out that my foot is not broken, I got an xray and it is fine, but it still hurts. I went to a baptism Thursday, it was not one of our investigators though. But we got a baptism date set up for an Islamic man named Moaid. And we have a couple of kids that want to get baptized, and we already have 3 people who are ready to get baptized but we have to send a letter to the First Presidency to get the okay because they are on parole. I have not bought a new bike yet, my bike got welded back together by a kind man in one of our wards. But I need to get a new bike because I need a bigger bike to ride on. The wards are pretty cool, we have Franklin Park Ward, Orchard Ward, and (my favorite) Bitteroot Ward. The reason it is my favortie is because most of our investigators are in it and we have a super awesome ward missionary, Bro. Lee.
Tell McKenzie that she will be alright, there is nothing to worry about. Just make sure she takes Choir, Seminary, and FFA and she will be fine. I really miss you guys. But please send me more letters. Also for my missionary plaque use either JS-History 1:28, Doctrine and Covenants Section 4, or Moses 1:39. In your spare time look up Jeremiah 4:19-20, it is hilarious. Well I better get going.
Love you all,
Elder Zachary Huston

Hey there,
I'm doing okay, although the other day i ran my bike in to my companions bike and flipped off of it onto the ground and skinned both of my knees, one in the same exact spot i skinned it the first time. So that combined with a possibly broken foot means that it is very hard for me to walk around without pain. Also, yesterday while i was riding my bike i noticed that it was starting to make a funny sound, thinking nothing of it i continued riding for another mile when suddenly seemed to shrink a foot. When i got to the stop light i checked my bike frame and the weld connecting the back tire to the main frame had broken. I guess that is what i get for buying a used $30 bike that is too small for me.
On a brighter note, it turns out that the elder of a senior couple in our district has met Tres before, i showed a picture and he said it was definetly him who helped him make copies at the family history center. And we are contacting a couple new investigators, former investigators, and less active members. We have one family from Uzbeckastan who speak russian and so we have someone in utah translate for us over the phone. We also have at least 3 invetsigators who want to be baptized and have had all the disscussions but are on parole and so we have to get them approved by the first presidency. Yesterday we also had our first baptismimal interview, and she will get baptized this thursday. We also have 3 kids who want to get baptized really badly and so we are going to teach them the disscussions as soon as we get a hold of them. On sunday, we were on our way to a dinner appointment and were cutting through a chuck e cheese parking lot when 2 travelers called us over and asked what we were doing. We had a quick disscussion with them and the gave them a pass along card, which just happened to be a book of mormon free copy card, and they immediantly asked how they could get one. I just happened to have one in my bag and gave them the copy. They were so thrilled.
Well I better let you go, give everyone my love.
Love,
Elder Zachary Huston

Hey Mom,
Just got out into the field yesterday and I am in the Central Boise 2 area and it is a biking area. My trainer is Elder Taylor and he is from Virginia. I guess I only have to train for 3 months instead of the old 9 month training schedule. Also, my p-day is on Tuesdays now. I need to buy a bike soon as well, also I need to get a new digital camera because the one I have has a cracked screen. So I can't tell what I am taking pictures of but I still can take pictures with it. On Monday I went to the BYU Health Clinic to get a prescription refilled and to get my foot looked at. It just was hurting so I wanted to make sure it wasn't broken or anything. It was really cool because I found out that the doctor who looked at my foot is Aunt Jenny's cousin. Anyways, she gave me a boot and said to take ibuprofen and if it still hurt in a week I should get a x-ray. Today, I also fell while walking, tripping on a raised piece of sidewalk, and hit my head. I was ok, my shoe got scuffed, my left pant leg got scuffed, and my right pant leg got a hole in it. I'm still ok though. Well I need to wrap it up, so I love you guys. Please have anyone outside the family only send letters because I can't answer their emails.
Love,
Elder Huston(Zachary)

Hey family,
Just so you know I will be leaving Tuesday, July 12 for Boise Idaho and will get to call you guys maybe, so be by the phone. Also quick question for dad, what was the name of the candy bar that we all liked so much from Canada, not the Big Turk? Reason being, we have a missionary in our zone from canada. So also we are having lots of fun. Me and Elder Ofe are getting along.
Talk to Steven and Nathan ad ask if they got the package I sent to them. Talk to you later.
Love Elder Huston (Zach)
